What is Bing?

Microsoft has recently released its latest search engine, Bing, which will replace its current Live Search and ultimately take on Google.

• Bing displays fewer, focused results if it has understood your what you are searching for. For example, the search for ‘MySpace’ brings up just one result linking to the website itself.
• Bing shows a preview of web pages if you hover your mouse over the search results.
• Some search results are divided into categories. For example, if you search for the musician "Britney Spears", you'll get results for different categories including news, songs, movies, biography, wallpapers and downloads. Also, the search results show images, videos and the popularity ranking of the musician.
• Bing is a vertical search engine, offering specific health, shopping & travel search engines. It also offers instant answers to travel searches. For instance, the search "New York hotels" displays a selection of hotels in New York, including hotel star ratings and prices.
• Bing's search history lets you return to your most recent searches of the last two days. This feature can be turned off to protect your privacy.
• Wikipedia searches can be displayed inline with the search results, so that browers do not need to leave the Bing website by clicking “Enhanced view".
• Despite the background image, which changes daily, Bing's homepage loads quickly in your web browser because the search box and logo load first. You can also turn off the background image.
