What is Affinity Marketing?

The marketing of products or services, provided by a third party, to a group of individuals linked by a common interest, background, occupation or other factor, using the affinity they have, to generate additional sales for the provider as well as incremental revenues for the entity hosting the group interest, either by co-branding or endorsement

What does this mean?

Affinity marketing exists simply because company owners and brand owners have realised that they can leverage some of the equity locked in their brand and customer bases, by selling them products and services which they don’t currently sell, for example: travel or financial services.

However, in the majority of cases, the capital required to set up a travel or insurance operation from scratch would be very prohibitive. It is therefore far simpler and more cost-effective to develop a strategic partnership with a specialist provider.

The Affinity Group host gives access to their customer base and brand identity to companies who would otherwise find it hard to reach such customers, they in turn provide the products.
