CSI Visit Alton Towers for Spooky Scarefest

This October, CSI Media ventured deep into the heart of the Staffordshire Moorlands for the legendary Scarefest event at Alton Towers.

The Team Choose Coasters!

Earlier this year, we asked our team where they wanted to go for our annual company outing. Would it be a comedy gig, go-karting, white water rafting, a spot of archery, or perhaps something a little more refined like a cocktail masterclass or the theatre? Well, not quite.

Alton Towers topped the vote which gave our designers, developers, project managers & directors the chance to enjoy some of the world’s best rollercoasters & horror mazes.

Rollercoaster time!

The first stop of the day for our team was Oblivion: the world’s first vertical drop rollercoaster, and - in many people’s eyes - still the scariest!

You Belong to The Smiler

Next, The Smiler and its record 14 loops awaited. We have to say, hats off to one of our developers as this was his first EVER rollercoaster - see the photo for proof! We can still hear the music now…

More Coasters!

After a spot of lunch, our daredevil devs took on the intense twists and turns of the legendary Nemesis, combatted the ghouls in a Duel, escaped from the wraithy apparitions of Rita and, finally, fed the flames of The Wickerman.

Give us those G’s!

The Mazes

The team fended off the zombies in Project 42 and fled the skin snatchers in The Mines. One of our devs, JJ, swears that the foreboding governess was floating through The Attic in the latest version of the popular Terror of the Towers maze! (V. vivid imagination there we think!)

Finally, we entered the infamous Sub Species, where our team were warned, “you may be split up”. There was no “maybe” about it as one by one, our powerless team were ushered in different directions. Thankfully, all survived. Liam (pictured) was the last to escape.
