Auto Trader - Motor Trade Delivery

Motor Trade Delivery is a digital service that brings together car dealerships and logistics companies in an online marketplace. Motor Trade Delivery is part of the AutoTrader group, a FTSE 100 index company who recently featured in the “Top 100 Businesses in the North West”.

The Challenge

Motor Trade Delivery required a new custom web portal system that brings together car dealerships and logistics companies in a live online marketplace. The core aim of the system was to allow dealerships to create ‘jobs’ for the transportation of vehicles from one location to another, and for vehicle delivery companies to ‘bid’ for or buy these jobs.

Our Solution

We worked closely with the client to help formulate their strategy and, following a thorough requirements gathering and research phase, we produced a full end-to-end system specification. The client commissioned us to deliver a brand new, bespoke MVC and .NET web portal solution.

Car Dealerships

The bespoke software solution delivers efficiency savings for car dealerships who no longer have the time-consuming job of resourcing and managing quotes; logistics companies approach them via the system. Car dealerships can:

Create listings and push them to auction with six different pricing options and five different auction methods
Track listings from creation to competition
Upload CSV files that will bulk create listings

Logistics Companies

Logistics companies can easily find and bid for or buy jobs. The ‘buy’ option means there is no waiting for a response - if they have a driver ready at a location, they can buy the job immediately. Logistics companies can:

Bid for or buy a job
Access jobs nationwide and view all jobs on a map that are at auction
View the collection and delivery points of a job on a map - and the total distance of the job - before buying the job
Mark jobs as invoiced once completed
